disabled due to Pulmonary Hypertension (Heart/Lung Condition)

Competition story please share on facebook if you think it should win the i-pad,

I am disabled due to Pulmonary Hypertension (Heart/Lung Condition)I have in recent years needed a blue badge to help life a little bit better for me when shopping etc.  Looking at me you wouldn\’t know I had PH as I looked quite healthy. However people do not see the chest pain or breathlessness that go with this condition.

One day I had just parked up in a disabled bay in the supermarket car park when an elderly lady on crutches came and knocked on my window. I wound it down and smiled at her. She said \”I think you\’ll find that you have parked in the wrong area\” I assured her that I was definately in the right place for me.
She continued by saying \”You shouldn\’t be parking in the disabled bay, it is for disabled people ONLY\”

My response was \”Please don\’t judge a book by its cover, I can quite clearly see your disability but you cannot see mine, I have a rare heart/lung condition and I am entitled to park here so good day to you Madam\” (I really wanted to say something rude to her but couldn\’t as I am too polite!)  She looked a little embarrassed and apologised when she saw me taking my blue badge out of my handbag.  However she sat in her car and watched me get out of my car and every slow step I took to get into the supermarket.

I felt very angry and upset as I had only recently had my blue badge and couldn\’t believe someone would challenge me like this.

A few days later I was having very bad breathing difficulties and had to go to the local GP and saw the same lady sitting in the waiting room. I looked over at her and smiled, she reddened and looked away. I think it would have been the last time she questioned someone on parking in a disabled bay!
